Health and Safety Coordinator

(Law 1568/85, Law 3850/2010, P.D. 17/96, P.D. 294/88 and P.D. 305/96.)

In all technical and construction projects, particularly in large and complex ones (subcontracting, joint ventures etc.), the cooperation of a number of employees with diverse specialties is often accompanied by various potential risks. One of the main lines of defense against them is the Health and Safety Coordinator.

Both during the planing and implementation of the project, the Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible to create a unified safe environment for all employee groups, taking due attention to the specific needs of each individual.

Through his/her coordinating actions the officer is responsible for the supervision, planning and control of all matters related to the overall safety and health of human life. He is in close cooperation with the project's Safety Officer and Occupational Physician, and is not only accountable for the prevention of accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses to employees but also to those who are directly or indirectly exposed to potential hazards from the project's work activities (such as members of the public).
